Your way to the villa

The Villa is in località Ulignano comune di Volterra, province of Pisa.
Not to be confused with the town of Ulignano in the north of San Gimignano (province of Siena)

Arriving from the Pisa Airport

  • Take the the highway called SGC-FI-PI-LI. (This means “main road between Firenze, Pisa and Livorno”) following the blue signs towards FIRENZE
  • Continue towards FIRENZE until you pass through your first tunnel.
  • Immediately after the tunnel take the exit for PONTEDERA
    (do not take the exit right before named “Pontedera – Ponsacco” also indicating Volterra)
  • Follow the direction VOLTERRA on the strada statale SS 439 that, always following the direction VOLTERRA, will become SS 439 dir
  • At almost 10 km from Volterra you will find the hotel and restaurant MOLINO D’ERA with an API gas station (yellow sign) on your left
  • Turn to the left and then take your first right (immediately after a small bridge) following signs towards Colle Val d’Elsa.
  • You are always driving on the SS 439 dir, after 10 minutes you will find the road to COZZANO SENSANO ULIGNANO, take it turning left.
    (At the same intersection Volterra is indicated to the right)
    You have to ignore the first junction to COZZANO that you will find on this road and will have to take only the second one which is the only one that also indicates Ulignano
  • Continue straight on this road until you see yellow signs for the Villa di Ulignano on the right, about 10 minutes.
    This last road starts out as a paved road and then becomes a dirt road as it starts to wind up the hill. You will pass yellow signs for “Villa Scopicci” and 1.8 km later you will find the yellow signs to “Villa di Ulignano”. Make a sharp right turn onto this cypress-lined road. At the top of the road you will find a high boxwood hedge in front of you, at which point you turn left into the driveway of the villa.

Arriving from Florence

  • Take the motorway FIRENZE – SIENA 4 corsie direction SIENA (blue sign)
  • Take the exit COLLE VAL D’ELSA NORD
  • Follow the signs to VOLTERRA on the SP 68 till Km 50,7 where you will find a junction for CASTELFIORENTINO / GAMBASSI on your right.
  • Take it and go along keeping the main road SP 53.
  • At the km 6 of the SP 53 you will find a farm on your right and a big dirt country road with cypresses on your left with indicated Villa di Ulignano with a white sign.
  • Once on the unpaved road follow yellow signs for Villa di Ulignano).
    Estimated time: 80 minutes

Arriving from Volterra

  • Take the SS 68 direction FIRENZE
  • Take the road towards PISA, PONTEDERA on your left (SS 439 dir)
  • After 5 minutes you will find the road to SENSANO, COZZANO, ULIGNANO on your right
  • Continue straight on this road until you see yellow signs for the Villa di Ulignano on the right, about 10 minutes.
    This last road starts out as a paved road and then becomes a dirt road as it starts to wind up the hill. You will pass yellow signs for “Villa Scopicci” and 1.8 km later you will find the yellow signs to “Villa di Ulignano”. Make a sharp right turn onto this cypress-lined road. Arriving from San Gimignano

  • Drive around San Gimignano to the north end, following signs for GAMBASSI on the SP 69.

  • At the roundabout keep on following direction GAMBASSI

  • Go along this road till the junction for Volterra on the SP 62 and take it

  • Go along this road (the SP 62 become SP 53) till Km 6 of the SP 53
    where you will find a farm on your left and a big dirt country road with cypresses on your right with indicated Villa di Ulignano (white sign).

  • Once on the unpaved road follow yellow signs indicating Villa di Ulignano.
